Two men suspected to be armed robbers have been arrested by the police in Akwa Ibom State for illegal possession of guns.
The suspects: Ezekiel Adie, 35 and Emmanuel Akanad, 28, both from Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State, were arrested along Itu road in Uyo, the state capital on their way to Bayelsa State.
The State Police Public Relations officer, PPRO, ASP, Cordelia Nwawe, while parading the duo on Friday at the State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan-abia, Uyo, said the two men, also suspected to be ‘pistol gun dealers’ have been under security watch for some time now.
Nwawe said the two suspected persons had been trading on locally made Berretta English pistols.
One of the suspects, Adie confessed to the crime saying they were traveling from Ogoja to supply the guns to their agent in Bayelsa when they were apprehended.
