Nigeria urged to embrace latest internet version

The president of Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA), Sunday Folayan, has implored the Nigerian Communications Commission, (NCC), to encourage the adoption of Internet Protocol Version 6(IPV6) in Nigeria.
Folayan, who spoke at the opening of the international capacity building and enhancement workshop on IPV6 in Lagos, said NCC as a regulator needs to intervene and ensure that most of the devices in the country are IPV6 compliance.

The NIRA president, who was represented by the Vice President of the association, Muhammed Rudman, noted that most of the developed world has embraced IPV6, with countries competing for positions in the global ranking on IPV6 adoption.
The President of Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria, (ATCON), Olusola Teniola said that the adoption of IPV6 in Nigeria will enhance the performance of Network Engineers in the country on network management with the ultimate goal of ensuring sustainable growth in the telecom industry.
Teniola, who was represented by ATCON 1st Vice President, Anthony Nwosu, added that the IPV6 will provide Nigeria network engineers with the required knowledge to compete favourably with their counterparts in the global market.
