Lagos PDP Endorses George For National Chairman

The Lagos State chapter of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has endorsed Chief Olabode George, former deputy national chairman of the party for the position of national chairman.
The decision of the party was taken at the meeting of the members of the State Executive Council held at the party secretariat in Lagos on Wednesday.
Chief Moshood Salvador, state chairman of the party, stated that a large party like PDP cannot afford to have a mediocre as chairman and urged other leaders of the party in the zone to support George’s aspiration.
He said, “We urged all states in the south-west and other five geo-political zones to join in the declaration to avoid the emergence of somebody who would not be able to manage the affairs of the party effectively as national chairman.
“We cannot gamble with the success of the party by allowing a mediocre to take over the leadership.”
Salvador described George as a leader who has paid his dues right from the time of the party’s formation in 1998 and declared that it is time for the party to have him as the national chairman.
“PDP need a seasoned and experience leader like George as national chairman that would be able to prepare the party towards the forth coming general elections in 2019”.
Salvador who advised the leadership of the party to learn from their past mistake and throw their weight behind a trusted leader, said the mistake made in the choice of Sheriff should be a lesson to all.
“We need a national chairman that is committed to the success of the party not like the mistake we made in the choice of Modu Sheriff.”
On the rumour that Jimi Agbaje, former governorship candidate of the party  in Lagos State is also interested in the chairmanship position, Salavador stated that Agbaje has never informed him of his intention to vie for the national chairmanship position of the party.
“As the chairman of PDP in Lagos State, Jimi Agbaje has not approached me that he would contest the election as national chairman of the party”.
